Mindfulness in Bodywork with Tim Newman

Zero Balancing (ZB) is a non-diagnostic method which is as much an approach to consciousness and wellbeing, as a hands on protocol for bodywork. Its primary aim is to teach any health practitioner how to nurture their own well being , at the same time as they attend to another's : ZB is a deeply nourishing form of bodywork that works primarily with energy flow through the skeleton - ie bone. Despite working with tension patterns rather than symptoms, it is nonetheless effective at helping specific imbalances to resolve, whilst reconnecting a person to themselves and supporting them and their as yet unrealized potential.

In this day's program we look at the way energy behaves in interpersonal dynamics, and especially when any kind of applied touch is used. In Zero Balancing terms, this is called the Vocabulary of Touch. Depending on your own awareness of energy and structure - your body and its flows and movements - as well as your unconscious tendencies and needs - you may find that certain kinds of work or people are more depleting than others - and this can be simply because you are unintentionally over-investing or projecting yourself into the work at the expense of your energetic integrity.

We will use a number of experiential exercises to appreciate, ground and embody these ideas which you can then experiment with in or out of the therapeutic situation. There will also be some demonstration of Zero Balancing technique to give you an idea of how it looks and feels, as well as time to ask questions about what has been presented.
